I was looking at a couple of different protien powders today, one was a 'supplement' and one was an 'isolate.' What's the diff? Aside from about ten bucks. The isolate also had (I think) about 8g of protien more.

Isolates are typically in the 90's in protein percentage. However, in most cases this is not worth the money. You can normally find isolates these days for the same price. Look around.

Would the isolate be better than the supplement? I've never seen them labelled like that before.

Tim - check this out. The article is chopped up so you will have to scroll down past the first section. I think this should help.

Ah... thanks, ka and bb1. Makes sense... I guess it all sort of boils down to perceived gains and ones preferance.

Percieved is the optimal word. If you check some manufacturer's, even other bb sites, they are all revved up that hydrolosates is the way to go due to speed. Silly stuff really, it is not going to make an iota of difference in your physique in the long run. Getting your protein uptake a matter of a couple minutes faster makes squat of a difference.
The only time that the 'purity' so to speak of protein may well become an issue is if you are contest dieting. To get to those bodyfat levels, then it is an issue for obvious reason of intrinsic value.

Funny how the business works.
If I go for one or the other, I'd pick the less expensive kind as I'm not contesting. Save myself the ten bucks for another jug.
