okay well im trying to bulk up i guess, gaining weight is pretty hard for me because i guess i have a fast metbolizm and im just not that big of a eater. I have been working out for a few weeks now but really havent made any significant weight gains maybe like 2 pounds ,but I most defintely have gotten stronger, all of my lifts have gone up. Now I know the whole thing where if you do heavy weights with low reps you build more strength than mass, which i assume is what im doing(i never do any more than 10 reps usually around the 6-8 range). What I was wondering is if there is a point where a muscle cant get any stronger so it has to put on more mass? Like is there a point where the muslce has reached its max potention in strength and the only way to adapt is to put on more mass?

you answered your question in your first sentence....you are not eating enough. You can pick at the whole mass vs strength thing all you want. Simply put if you are not eating enough you WIL NOT GROW. ALso a "few weeks" is not really enough time to see muc of anything.

I wish everyone would get a partial amnesia and never use 'tone' ever again. (thanks Menance)

Eat more and add a couple of protein shakes a day, one after your workout and one before bed. I personally would stay away from weight gaining shakes. Your diet should be whole foods, supplemented by the protein shakes. Hit the scale once a week preferably at the same time of day (first thing every Saturday morning). At 2 pounds a week you are most likely building good lean muscle mass, anything over 2 pounds and you are probably adding muscle plus fat. If you are not a big eater, eat small meals throughout the day, which is actually the best way to eat anyway.
