Ok, I have a problem. I have been doing my program for a couple of weeks now. I do weights on mom, wed, and fri. Cardio on tues, thurs, and sat. My legs look great, well, better than they did, but I am unable to lose my stomach fat, now I know that a couple of weeks isn't going to make much difference, but how do I get rid of it?? PLease help with any suggestions!!!

Fat comes off all over the body and typically in the place you want...last!! You just have to give it time. I'm down to my last 10lbs to lose and it's mostly located on my stomach and back. You just have to hang in there:)

I agree with fly. In addition, two weeks isn't long enough to see dramatic results.

Well, though "fat comes off wherever it wants" is a generally true answer, it is a bit generic. On lots of resarch I have done, this is the lowdown....

In order of easiest to hardest fat to lose it goes

visceral fat
deep absdominal fat
upper superficial abdominal fat
lower superficial abdominal fat
hip and thigh fat

Since most men don't carry hip and thigh fat, the lower superfificial abdominal fat ends up being the stubbornest

Give yourself at least 3-4 weeks before you start looking for any results.:)

ok, bb1fit, what does all that technical stuff mean?? Is superfificial fat like the stuff we women get when we have babies, at around that spot?? I will keep working at it, but would like to see faster results, but oh well!! Thanks for the advice.

Visceral fat is the fat around the organs mostly, it can be quite dangerous. It is deeper than subcataneous fat(the fat directly under the skin). Interestingly enough, the relative amount of abdominal fat with respect to total body fat mass is often similar in both groups(lean or obese). Visceral fat constitutes about 10% of total body fat mass in lean and obese men The good news is it may be easiest to burn with cardio...witness a study here...

According to the study, published in the Journal of Applied Physiology, engaging in vigorous aerobic activities such as bicycling or brisk walking for at least 30 minutes a day can result in a 7% loss of both deep and superficial abdominal fat.

Abdominal fat I am sure you understand....however it is important to note that it is the major predictor of insulin sensitivity, especially central abdominal fat distribution in lean folks.

Unfortunately, women can gain additional fat cells when pregnant. This normally happens during the last trimester of pregnancy and when a person experiences excessive fat gain. The fat cells have to reproduce to accommodate the excess fat the body is producing.:(

Thanks, that really helped. I have a friend who is a member here, and I need to have her update her profile, as she just found out that she is pregnant. Not sure what her name here is, though!!

Thanks again for all the help. I am just going to keep on doing what I'm doing, and hope it all goes away!!!
