I took the test on here and got my new lifting schedule. Im finding it somewhat humorous as I go through the lifting for the day. I feel like a klutz.......its challenging to figure out what Im doing but I find Im laughing thinking what as I DOING!!! I am sore which is a good thing. Hopefully my enexperience with the technique wont slow down my progress. Any suggestions on how to make sure Im doing the proper lift?

If you're doing it really really wrong, people can't help but to come to your aid when you're at a gym, but if you have any specific technique questions for certain exercises, I'm sure somebody on here might be able to lead you in the right direction.

I was in the same boat - still am, actually - I'm still adding new exercises to my reportoire (sp?). Feel kinda stupid sometimes, but hey, if you never did an exercise before, or haven't done alot of them before, how can you expect to be an expert at it? You have to learn how to do it sometime. Just go slow at first, work on technique and form first - use light weights so you aren't killing yourself as you try to figure out how to do an exercise.

The ft web site has very good explanations and pictures to help guide you. Also, take note at what muscles (primary and secondary) each exercise is supposed to work - then, as you do the exercises, make sure you are feeling the "burn" in those muscles and not anywhere else. For example, if you are working your triceps but feel stretching in your pecs then you are probably doing the exercise wrong. That might be a stupid example, but you get the idea; your body will usually tell you if you are doing it right or wrong.

And like mutt says, if you are at a gym, ask a trainer. I don't have that luxury 'cause I work out at home. But I have the ft web site and a poster that came with my home gym that illustrate the exercises.
