So I started doing squats every night and after a couple of weeks, it started hurting my left knee. Is it because I am doing the squats incorrectly? I am afraid to start back up again because of injuring my knee but it was doing a great job on my thighs after a week. Should I wear a something on the knee while doing them or maybe take an Aleve before working out?
Also, I thought about doing laps in the pool for a good workout. If I am trying to lose weight, is it better to just stick to the gym instead of doing laps? I heard that doing laps consistantly for 30 minutes, you can lose up to 300 calories... is that true? I just find it easier for me to doing laps in the pool than running for 30 minutes on the treadmill.
Sorry for all of the questions, just not educated enough and pretty new to finding a good exercise program. I appreciate any feeback!
Thanks!

WHAT? Squats should be done once a week if that often, with heavy weights. that is why your knees hurts too much squatting

pool laps are good low impact cardio exercise and should be done after or on a separate day from lifting weights
squats like mutt already said should be done a maximum of 2-3 times a week...and probablymore like once every 7-14 days with heavy weights....
Remember to sit BACK before DOWN when doing squats...that should ease the knee pain

If I just want to get my body toned, will using heavy weights make me bulk up?
Thank you both for the feedback. I knew I shouldn't have done squats everyday... YIKES!!
