Cardio training on a bike. Excellent for the heart and also a great way to loose weight.
Quite tough in the beginning thou.
Make sure of drinking enough water, coz you gonna sweat!!

Are you taking a class? Spinning uses a special "spinning bike" the seating position and weight of the wheel are totally different than a road or traditional gym bike.
The instructor is taking you thru the speed and resistance changes which are usually tough!

No I'm not taking any class. What is the time interval between which I should change the speed and resistance. What is the exact pattern

Am am not an intructor and I don't think ther is an acact pattern. In the classes I have taken the instuctor plots out a course (as if we were on a road trip) and we change tension and speed as we move up and down hill etc. There are some spinning video tapes on the market too. Access to a TV while riding?
I would guess the intervals between changes are 3 min. or so.

My advice to you is to start with a class or two to see how it is. Otherwise do as ltroisi suggests about buying a video tape.
It's easier to stay motivated that way.

In the spinning classes, you got a warm up period of about ten mins, the interval training. How long, that depends of the your level, it can be 3 slow 1 fast or 5 slow 2 fast, it changes..... Slow down period and stretching. We also do push ups on the bikes.....

Take a class or buy video tape, and you'll learn.

I got the answer (either goto a class or buy a video. )

Thank you very much.

I know this is an old topic but I just started a spinning class and love it. Its really fun and tuff but I didn't do to bad. I am fallowing the 8 week program on here for weight lose and to tone up on mwfs and I do my spinning class on T and Th. Not sure if I'm over doing it to lose like 50 pounds and to maintain the muscle I have already built. My main goal is to get the weight off and bulk up. Not to big since I'm only a 5-1 male with very broad shoulders. Honestly I don't know what I should end up I know i will see when I get there, and go hey I like how I look now. If anyone actually sees this old thread and has some advice that would be great.

I signed up a few months back lost 15 pounds and fell off the wagon but I'm back again and ready to keep it up.
