This may sound a little weird, but I think my spine is getting bruised. It's sore to touch and a little stiff right in the center of my back for about a 4 inch length. It actually feels like 2-3 vertebrae are bruised. The muscles running along the sides are fine, but the bones hurt. I've never had this problem before, through years of ballet ect. Thanks in advance for any replies.

WOW! What were you doing when it started to hurt?

effaluent - if the soreness is down on your lower vertabrae and you've been doing a lot of crunches/situps, there's a possibility you've bruised it doing the rocking motion some people do.

It's actually in the mid back, about 4 inches down from the bottoms of the shoulder blades. I don't rock when I work my abs, and I use a mat now even though I didn't for years. I'm totally perplexed, it's in a spot that I've never been sore before.
