when doing bench press or any other excercise on the smith machine how do you coutn the weight? if you add 20 lb on each side what do you add for the machine? what is yor total?

I just count plate weight. The resistance of smith machines varies, makes it difficult to pinpoing a "weight".

I was always told it was 10 lbs for the smith machine bar. So if you are benching and have a 45 lbs plate on each side you are lifting 100 lbs.
