hey everyone, i have a question. i read an article saying that when trying to gain muscle mass, its best to reduce cardiovascular activity. why is that? i understand that no progress would be seen. but i also read that you would actually LOSE mass. how true is that? and if it isn't true, what would really happen if you did strength train and do cardiovascular at the same time (not literally, one after the other in one workout.) but if its true, how often then should cardiovasculare exercise be done when trying to gain mass?

Also when you do a lot of cardio, while trying to gain mass your body uses what ever is easiest to break down for fuel...in this case muscle cause it is easier to break it down than body fat.

So, does that mean you advocate basically more or less no cardio work at all when trying to gain mass ?

I'd be pretty worried about gaining the 'wrong type' of mass if I cut down cardio too much, given all the food I'm eating right now, but I'm pretty new at this, so would welcome more opinions on this subject..

Unless you are the ultimate hardganier ( you can not gain anytype of weight) I think some cardio is ok just do not over do it. try a slower pace about 3x a week. Anymore than that and you could loose some weight.
