shoulders and next day triceps

If im working out my shoulders on one day say friday and workout my arms the next day()saturday)),is that ok or will it lead to overtraining of the triceps???

Arms are a small enough muscle group that this should not be a problem.

what do you mean "small enough muscle group".does that mean it wont lead to overtraining?..i read somewhere that you should keep atleast days gap betwee training the same muscle.is that true?

tboy21, I don't see any problem on working your shoulders on day 1 and then tris on day 2... here's what I do and maybe you can use it too... on day 1 I work chest and back... day 2 I work shoulders, tris & bis... day 3 legs....

Not sure what the issue is here tboy? Shoulders does not really use tris....now doing chest and then the next day doing tri might not work as good, but shoulders the triceps is not that bad...

If you do your shoulder work properly then your arms should be used lil if none at all, When I say do military press, I keep a slight bend in my arms( not locking out) this keeps the stress on my delts and not on the triceps......However why not just go ahead and train tris that day? You don't have to have an " arm" day.

tboy, I know how you feel . I asked even more question when I started back to lifting. I am pretty sure I drove Mutt, BB1 and several others her crazy with my questions. We really want to do this right. If you are changing your routines , surprising your muscles , eating and resting right, then you are fine. You won't do long term harm by not having your splits just perfect. The main point is to learn and stick to it for the long haul. You will get there. Enjoy the trip.
