Ok, I tried searching for this, but no dice. (embarressed) What are 'cans', and is there a real difference in using them as opposed to dumbells when doing the bent rows?

Hey John!

How are the back, knee, and that Poconos weather treating you?

The only "cans" I've ever heard of are (now don't laugh)actual cans - as in a can of corn, green beans, etc. When I was doing physical therapy for my shoulder, the therapist suggested using those thick bands or even cans (in a pinch at home) initially for my exercises before moving to anything heavier like DBs or BBs or machines. They provided a small amount of resistance and were useful (and convenient) in rehabilitating certain injuries - especially at home. Now I know that everyday there is something new in the fitness industry, so maybe there IS a new gizmafrazz called a "can". I just don't know. It's so tough keeping up on all the new fitness stuff.

Hey, if it IS some new fitness thingy, maybe my gym can get one, then I can tell everyone that I'm going to the gym to use the can!

John, it looks like he's using DBs in the animation, but I'll bet "cans" just means actual metal food cans (or really light DBs). So maybe we can start out with something light like 2 cans of tuna and then work our way up to pumpkin pie filling or cling peaches in heavy syrup...

Cans are just metal cans that you use at home when you don't have access to Dumbells. Don't be embarressed I had to make sure that I was right so I confirmed it with my husband.

I also had to ask him what guns were when I was told I had great guns, See we all can't know everything, if we did then why would we have forums.

Ok, ok so there aren't any hyper titanium super cans. Just plain old cambell's soup cans. How dumb can I get? lol. Well, they aren't going to be heavy enough, I wonder why they came up for me...hmm. Thanks folks!

Well, down here in NEPA, guns refer to biceps or arms in general. And by looking ay Sandy's pics, I am sure that is what was meant. Great guns, Sandy!

LOL at Hangclaw - "Hyper titanium Super Cans"!

Hey Carivan, having 3 boys, I must constantly stay hip with the new younger crowd lingo - words such as "dope", "phat", "boss", "whack", "sick" and "bomb" all mean "good". The fitness industry is no different. "Guns" and "pipes" are arms, "wheels" are legs, "6 pack" is abs, etc. Therefore, if someone says, "Say, that Sandysford's pipes are really dope!", that means that she has very nice arms. "Sick wheels" means great legs. There will be a quiz later today.
