last winter i broke and fractured bones in my foot and did a number to my knee. i went to physio for a while, but quit after my knee recovered. now i am told that i have a foot with scar tissue all over it. does anyone know a way to help alleviate this? i was told yoga might help, and i try to keep my circulation up as best as possible, but nothing seems to be working. it makes it very difficult to do things liek squats, leg or calf presses

My wife asked me the other day where a scar on my foot came from. I told her from surgery in 1968. I guess she had seen it before and forgot. We've been married for 24 years. The pain will go away a little faster.

Your Dr should be able to give you a recovery estimate and suggest physical therapy.

if it's a weakness in your foot try these exercises. i got them from a football trainer when I had problems with my ankle. they might help.
1. stand on your feet and raise one foot off the ground (in front or behind your body, whatever you prefer, get your balance and then close your eyes. as soon as you close your eyes you'll feel as if your balance is going and your foot will immediately start to try to counter-balance.
2. when your sitting wherever use each foot to spell each letter of the alphabet, gets the circulation and the movement going.
hope it gets better so you can get back into your lunges etc.

this is an old post,
ill write anyway:
i have the same problem.
I was told by doctor to rest the foot. (2-10 weeks)
Im going to buy cruches, when i need to walk.
No pressure should be placed on the foot with scar tissue.
therefore,
lunges is innapropriate.

frankieshamrock, I think your taking the wrong approach to healing your foot if it is due to scar tissue. The worst thing you could do is keep it stationary. Physical therapy is your best option. 519's appproach of writing the alphabet with his foot is actually a very good one along with t-babes exercises. I'd get a second opinion regarding your injury!!
