Hi - Since the new year, I've significantly cut back on my portions and have been going to the gym 5 times a week (first time at the gym in 2 years).

my workout schedule is as follows:
-5min warm up on treadmill (mon-fri)
-1hr weights - hit 2 different muscle groups a day (mon-thurs)
-30min HIIT cardio on elliptical (3x/week)
-40min pilates (thurs)
-1hr yoga (fri)

.....the scale won't budge! i feel stronger but i haven't lost any weight and my clothes don't feel any different. I'm getting a little frustrated. I allow myself to "cheat" a little on the weekends with food, but isn't that okay?

my goal: I'm 5'3", 24-year old female wanting to lose 25-30lbs by June 1.

HELP!!! :(

We are in the same boat! I'm 30, wanting to lose the same by June 30th. I lost a few lbs. though (8 lbs. and I started 1/15)and my close are feeling better. I'm trying to keep my calories under 1200-1300 per day (I'm using Weight Watchers). My routine is as follows:

40-50 min cardio everyday Mon-Sat (early am, before breakfast)
30-40 min weights - Mon-Sat (early am)
30 min pilates or ball excercises Mon-Sat (pm at home)

Define the following:

Quoting from jhahn:

I've significantly cut back on my portions

And try to disregard the scale. Use a tape measure instead.

its hard for me to figure out my caloric intake because I eat mostly Korean food and there is no easy way to figure out how many calories I'm consuming. however, I can tell you that for lunch I normally eat a smart ones entree, a salad or a turkey sub on wheat from subway. my dinner is visually half of what it was before, same goes for breakfast.

I don't even know if this makes any sense... did I answer your question?

I definitely agree with not depending on the scale too much, use a tape measure. I have decided to start taking my measurements every other Monday morning.

Also, watch your carbs, I don't eat any carbs after 6 pm and my dinner RARELY has many carbs in it!

Keep in mind, you're supposed to have at least 5 servings of fruits and veggies a day. I try and only snack on fruit and eat a large salad as a meal at least once per day!!

Let's keep in touch!

Dropping to half might have been a dramatic cut. Do you ever feel hungry?

I do feel hungry. But I'm not starving. I eat til I'm moderately full. I used to eat til I was stuffed - only to feel guilty immediately after.

Now I eat til I'm full - breakfast lunch and dinner. I have some fruit as a mid-afternoon snack an hour b4 the gym. I go to the gym right after work (yay for having a gym AT work! :) ) I feel like I'm eating enough, but is there a chance I'm not?

Try to incorporate more protien. I eat 3 meals a day and 3 snacks. Each one of those has protien. I hesitate to suggest a salad as a meal unless you are adding chicken or something to it, and are limiting the dressing as this can add a healthy dose of calories derived from bad fats. I also try to make sure that I use ridicchio, endive, spinach, etc. Plain old iceberg doesnt have as many nutrients.
A healthy diet consists of a healthy balance of protien, good carbs and good fats. I keep my ratios around 40% carbs, 30% protien and 30% good fats. The perfect ratio differs for everyone, but be sure to get balance. I disagree with the "I hardly eat any carbs" approach. Sorry.
