Is it alright to workout 5 straight days and rest on Saturday and Sunday?

Depending on your goals, yes.If you are after mass and strength, this can be an optimal workout. Now of course you don't ever work the same muscle group twice in one week. Each day you work just one muscle, a couple days you have to work 2 such as chest and triceps. An example might be..
Monday...Quads
Tuesday....Back & abs
Wednesday.....chest & triceps
Thursday.....Biceps & calves
Friday....Shoulders
Sat. and Sun....rest
this is assuming you are using max weights, 6 rep maximums. There are many variances you can use, but this is one. I usually change mine every 8-10 weeks.

Listen to your body Fred, if you feel tired, take a day off.

I work out five days a week and rests two. My husbands sets those days. Glad he does because I would never rest. I have to admit I am addicted to the gym.
