how long should i "rest" between each set, one minute, two or is the idea to just start a new one once i finish the last?

it depends on how hard you are working the muscles - if you are lifting heavy the longer the better

depends on how your lifting and training.

If your lifting 50lbs or less you can rest 30secs(50% of your max)

If your benching 60-75lbs , up the rest to about 1 min.(60-70% of your one rep max)

If your doing 80-90lbs.......rest 90sec to 120sec.( 80 to 90% of your max)

If your over 90lbs( 90% of your max) rest atleast 2 mins if not a lil more......you want good rest...but you don't want to "cool off"


YOu don't have to get a one rep max....on every lift....just kinda esimate, or use you reps as a guide. If you can only bench 75lbs 8 times........thats proabably about around the 60 - 70% range give your self a good min.
