I've been doing really well with weight loss and muscle gain such that I've gone down a size in pants. However, my thighs, I believe, are getting bigger(they've always been large) due to the muscle gain and therefore my pants are very tight thru the leg. Would I be wise to switch to high reps and lower wieghts for my quads, or just keep concentrating on diet and eventually my legs will lean out as well?

Here is my current leg workout which I do 1X/week (BTW, I have a bit of a hamstring imbalance so I'm working them a bit harder than my quads)

Squats (smith machine) 30 warmup then 15X 10,20,30lbs
Walking lunges 15 3X 15lbs
Dead Lifts 3X15 -bar only (easier on my dud hamstring)
leg curls 15X 40,50,60lbs
leg ext. 15X 35,40,45
calves (seated) 15X 25,35,35

Thanks...

your already doing pretty high reps......thing is, when you build muscle under fat, it pushes the fat out making you look thicker and bulkier.

I'd look into your calories in calories out. Maybe you ned to lower you calories by 200 or so a day, so you can "tap" into you fat stores

Thanks for the feedback bigandrew. I'm already having a hard time getting my calorie intake up to the recommended 1800 (while still keeping the fat down), so I don't think I'll cut back on calories for now. I'm getting lot's of cardio as well, so I guess I'll just keep going the way I am and hopefully my legs will slim down with the rest of me. I just thought that maybe if I used less wieght and higher reps that I would stop bulking up.

If you are losing weight in other area's it could be that your legs are not actually getting any bigger, but perhaps staying the same size. Because the rest of you looks smaller now, the legs look bigger in comparison, fooling you into thinking they are getting bigger. You may have also made a gain in size from gaining muscle, as Bigandrew suggested, but I don't think you will need to change anything up. As you lean up, and you lose the stored fat on your legs, you will lose some size on your legs, and probably then feel great about the nice muscular, and defined legs you will have.

If you haven't been, a good idea is to take body measurements, this will tell you if you are actually gaining/losing inches. Keep doing what your doing, as long as you are seeing progress, and still slimming down your on the right track!

Taking measurements is a really good idea. I'll pull out the tape measure tonight and then measure up again in a month or so! Thanks:)
