I have been taking protien shakes since I started my weight loss and gain program last week.

I weigh 200 pounds and I am 6ft tall so therefore does this mean I need to take in 200 grams of protien to keep the muscle I have at the moment?

I weighed the protien shake this morning and 200 grams seems a lot to take! I dont think I can drink that much protien shake in a day!

How do I work this one out?

BTW - To give you a rough idea of what I want to look like - think of Will Smith in the movie iRobot

Cheers

You should be getting the majority of your protein from the foods that you eat. Lean proteins like Chicken Breast, Turkey Breast and so on

A couple of protein shakes a day is good but not all of your protein should come from shakes.

One gram per lb. of bodyweight is accepted protocol. However, this can well be an averageover the week, when you are well trained. If you are well trained, your body becomes pretty good at 'storing' protein. That is a ubiquitous term, as your body cannot really store protein, but in fact being well trained your body will not lose muscle at any discernable rate.
