I mean if Protein alone helps you put on weight, then why not just eat a lot of it instead of buying the powder?
Or maybe I'm just ignorant on the whole topic, someone enlighten me :(

If you are looking to gain weight from protein powder it is much more simple then having eat eat steak tuna eggs chicken ect..... all day long....the weight gainers are filled with calories - good ones makes it much more easier and more efficient...hope that helps you understand why people take weight gainers...as for isolate whey protein you wont put mass on..it will keep feeding your muscles - and keeping one lean!

the purpose of a protein powder is to supplement protein intake. its alot easier to down a small shake midafternoon then cook up an entire chicken breast, and its alot less filling to boot. they are also extremely healthy, with practically no sugar or fat, and can be combined with milk, water, etc. for a quick boost. they are great postworkout, as the powder is more readily digested and reaches your muscles faster than, say, a solid protein source.

That's what i was thinking. I want to start some protein intake but kinda cautious of the amount of calories the skakes would put in. Also are you serious c d about isolate whey protien adding massive muscle without the fat. I'm on the big side of the scale and don't want to add any extra weight. So would all protien powders have the same whey or is there a perfect brand? Any recommendations.

After a work out your muscles need protein ...you have just "ripped" them so now its time to feed and recover them...best is isolate whey and glutamine...if you are eating clean and have isolate whey protein in your diet and having good work outs you will notice a big difference with the protein vs. no protein.

remember...the more lean muscle u have and build more calories you burn...therefore body fat will decrease..hope that helps

You're probably not training, eating, or resting correctly.
