How long should you rest between cardio sessions? I have heard around 12 hours. So does this mean if you run in the morning, that you should run in the evening? Will it help you to run twice in one day or just once?

It depends on what your goals are. Too much cardio hinder your muscle gains. I have done better in weight loss since cutting back my cardio to 3x a week for an avg of 30 mins each.

azredhead57 is right on. According to your profile, you have done well, and congratulations. You say you lost 50 lbs., this is great, but do you have any muscle tone? Wanting to get "cut up" as you state refers to having muscle tone showing with lower bodyfat. If you do not have much muscle now, you will not be able to "cut up". If you are at an acceptible bf level for yourself right now, then you might aim to add a bit of lean tissue. Doing cardio twice per day will hinder this. Lean muscle will help you burn fat even more. Muscle burns fat 24 hours per day. Cardio quits when you quit. And besides, too much cardio can actually lead to fat storage due to survival mechanisms inherent in the body. Incorporate resistance training, drop some of the cardio. Try to do cardio either after weight training or on separate days and concentrate on some lean mass.
-------------- As far as genetics go, the skies the limit. You are limited only by your mental perception of it.
