Hi, I am male, 5'7" and 150 pounds. I am trying to shed fat and reduce my waist to 30"(now 31"). There seems to be 2 school of thoughts. One is to work out on an empty stomach so that thhe body will use the stored fat during the workout.
Te other is it is okay to have protein shake before the workout.
What should I be doing if I want to shed the fat?
I am usually hungry by 6pm(my gym time). So I have a myoplex drink before heading to tthe gym. My post workout food is fish or egg whites or chicken with greens(spinaach/salad etc)(around 9.30 to 10 pm). Is this routine okay?
(breakfast 1/2 cup of plain oatmeal at 9m)
myoplex or boiled eggwhites(5)at 11 am.
Lunch:(12.30)sandwich or rice with chicken/turkey
5 pm (myoplex if I had had egg whites at 11 am). If not I might have oatmeal 1/2 hr before workout.
I want to drink only one myoplex perday and I want to include more of natural protein.
A protein shake before training will be fine. Will supply needed amino acids while protecting lean tissue. This will not interfere with fat loss. YOu might want to use something other than Myoplex though. More of a pure protein, a pure type whey isolate, that will get into your system quickly. It is shown that pure whey isolate can get into your system as soon as 20 minutes. No added carbs for your body to use for a fuel source.
