I didn't want to include this question under the Posture or Unbalanced Body threads so as to ilicit my own response and not take away from their questions.

My wife was in a car accident 2 or 3 months ago. She was rear-ended and shoved into the car in front of her. The chiropractor and massage therapist have been working to get her posture muscles (lower back) back to where she can sit in a chair for more than 2 hours at a time. (She WAS a Graphic Artist.)

Just a few weeks before this, she was diagnosed with GastroPeresis (sp?) which means that her stomach wasn't emptying the food into the intestines. I guess her body was in perpetual starvation mode since the food would go into the intestines until forced through. She had gained a lot of weight over the last few years, and after beginning medication for this, she had remained steady. Until the medication, exercising was keeping her active, but the GP would sap her energy every couple of days and she'd end up not exercising or walking.

Now she's maintaining her weight, not going up or down, while eating whatever she wants. (She got excited about being able to finish a whole value meal in one sitting, including her yogurt parfait.) We have worked on the diet since I joined this board. I know that she would start to lose weight now, if she could work out. But the Dr. says not to.

Are there any exercises that she could do at home that would help her to lose weight without hindering her posture muscle recovery?

Thanks,

What is the exact extent of her injury, esp. the lower back injury?
