I usually do bunny hops (squats except u jump and land with your toes) and when doing them, since u land on your toes, my knees go past my toes...my friend told me that if the knees past the toes it can cause a clog up or somthing in the future , or just somthing bad will happen, is this true? Thanks

Actually, this type of exercise puts a lot of stress on the knees...especially if you carry heavy weights. I have seen this done at a local fitness club (it actually looks pretty funny), but I often wondered how one doesn't get hurt from doing them.

well...personally this exercise doesn't sound safe at all to me. Is this exercise done with weight on the shoulders? If so I would stop doing it and just do regular squats or lunges. this exercise can be dangerous because if u were to fall forward u could seriously injure yourself. Also, you could possibly sprain an ankle.

No i do it without weights. I would do squats but the hop works out the calves more and in my opinion works better with legs. Thanks for the replys.

There are other calf exercises that you can perform that help build those muscles. If you haven't signed up for an ft program, please do. You can view these exercises by going to ft Exercise Resources, then choose Muscle Targeting, then choose calves. Check them out...you may find an exercise that you will like better.
Good luck.

I've seen this done as well.. take extra care when doing this because it is very easy to get injured.. especially as you add more weight..

You do explosive training which can be good if you have a goal -like being able to jump higher in basketball or volley. Jumping squat without weight and using the right technic can be done without danger for your knee joints, but if you want to go the more safer way you'll change your ways of jumping: Find a high step (at least 1 to 1 1/2 feet) and jump on it with your feet together. It's quite hard, but it's great training and you'll feel the strength in your legs increase very fast.
Luck to you.
