After four weeks I was thinking about doing a week of pyramid. Can somebody explain to me if that would be a good idea and what exactly pyramid is. Can you give me a sample(how many sets reps?). I would really appreciate it.
Thanks

Hi, I am a 16 year old male, 5 feet 11 and 175 pounds. I signed up for the gym about a month ago and need some advice on my workout plan. First the first two weeks I did circuit training to get stronger, then I began a split program. I am looking to gain muscle size and definition and am not too worried about losing or gaining weight.
Monday: Chest/Triceps
Tuesday: Legs/Abs
Thursday: Shoulders/Abs
Friday: Back/Biceps
I do three excercises per muscle, three sets per excercise, 12 10 and 8 reps, adding weight each set. I usually weight about a minute and a half between sets(the time it takes my two friends to do the excercise).
After working out a take a whey isolate shake mixed with milk instead of water and I try to eat every four hours. Some people have said that I should do cardio, some say I shouldnt. Also some people have told me to do less reps and more weight. Could somebody clarify this and give me any advice you can. Thanks

Your routine looks decent, see how it goes for a few weeks.
For cardiovascualr health, you may want to do 20 minutes of aerobic exercise 3 times a week.
Your reps are okay. They are just one of the things you can change when your routine gets stale.
There are good routines here under fitnes rsources - you can enter the days you want to work out and pick a goal specific program. Lots of people have had good results using these programs. Just a thought, if you want a trainer designed program.

voton, routine looks good, but you'd be better mixing your shake with water. The reason that you buy whey is that it is quickly absorbed, and the quicker the better postworkout. Mixing it with milk is counterproductive as it slows down the absorption.

I forgot to add that I take Mega Man multivitamin in the morning. Do you think its necessary?

How are you thinking of doing pyramid while not knowing what pyramid is? If I knew, I'd tell you, but it just sounds funy that in the same sentence that you say you want to do it, you are also questioning what it is. Good luck with your workouts!
