The other day I went to shower after my workout and upon entering the locker room, there was a girl wrapping herself up, well actaully only her thigh and stomach area, in plastic wrap. While trying not to laugh, I asked her if it really works, and she said that she always wears it while doing cardio and that she THINKS it helps. Since then I've seen those sweat-belts(i dont know what else to call them), made of rubber or whatever, at sports stores and am thinking of buying one for my belly. Question is, do they work at all?? Anyone use them?

I would say that is a scam causing more body warmth in an area is not going to increase fat burning. You can only loose water from increased sweating doing that.

Trust me on this one...that is total BS.(as far as the plastic wrap goes) Before my first competition, I tried to wrap around my stomach area to see if I could shed any water in that area...it was just a waste of time and plastic wrap.:( The rubber belts make you sweat more BUT they will not spot-reduce. Stick to eating healthy and exercise.:)

The garbage bags would make a hell of a fashion statement at the gym.

It can draw more water to the surface but not water that is intramuscular or subdermal. Its a crappy way to lose weight because its just dehydrating you.

The only good things those belts offer is warmth to an area that is injured. They really do not work!
