Peanut Butter has 8g of protein per 2 tbsp but 13g of fat what do you think of peanut butter?

Natural peanut butter is great. The fats are healthy fats, high in Omega 6. Just don't overdo it, as you note there are alot of calories, so fit it into your calorie scheme. Make sure you get some Omega 3's from another source in your diet. You want a 1:1 ratio minimum. Natural PB is great post bed with a good protein source if you are on a gaining cycle. (the protein in pb is not complete)

Go for the Jif if you want. The biggest difference between the two is price.

No, the biggest difference is the hydrogenated oils.:)Natural peanut butter has none.

A serving of regular PB contains less than .0032g of trans fats (some contain half that amount). Therefore, an entire 40 ounce jar of it contains about .1g, and you'd have to eat 9 jars to even get a gram. Even if trans fats were to be labelled, these products would still easily be able to claim 0g.
There is also obviously a taste difference, along with a 1-2g sugar difference (in some instances), about a 100mg sodium difference (in some instances), increased shelf life for the regular ones, a 1g protein difference (in some instances, favoring regular PB), a 1g carb difference (in some instances, which can favor either). The difference in either scenario is negligible enough as to not warrant concern.

Go with natural peanut butter. Many peanut butters add about 7% sweeteners (usually corn syrup or dextrose) and 1.5% salt for taste, plus a stabilizer (hydrogenated vegetable oil). Guess what the ingredients of Smuckers Natural PB is? ...Peanuts

Unfortunately, most people have been scared into the belief that cheap PB is bad because it contains hydrogenated oils. It wasn't until a USDA study a couple years ago that this was made clear as a non-issue. Problem is conventional wisdom still exists on the subject that suggests it's bad.
All PB is over 90% peanuts, or it can't be called peanutbutter. I'll agree, though, natty is slightly healthier. But for the worse taste and three times the price, I'd pass. In either scenario, PB is certainly a very worthwhile food, albeit in moderation due to its high caloric content.
FWIW, Smuckers Natural has more sodium, more carbs, and less protein than Simply Jif (granted, still negligible amounts).

I agree with bb1fit. Natural PB is the way to go. The taste is fine for me and...it's Natural! I have mine ground up right at the store, how can you beat that? :)
