When I run i get this pain in the mid left region of my stomach, im wondering if its bad form, or some sort of cramp?

Are you used to run? And do you drink enough water?
Also don't eat just before running (that gives me tummy aches when I run....)

No, im not, I ran a lot 6 months ago, I have been doing my exercise bike for the past 2 months, I started running a week ago.

It might be a problem with your hydration. make sure you drink enough water prior and during exercise

Are you drinking a lot of water right before you run? If the pain is kind of on the upper part of your stomach just under your ribcage (which is what usually happens to me =/) then its probably a 'side stitch'. Here is an article on the subject with some quick fixes..

there are some better faq's out there on them.. but I just drink small sips of water before I run to avoid the problem (and i'm usually running 20-60 min after I last ate)... hope that helps...

I agree with fireload. sounds like you are drinking to much of something before you run or you didnt wait long enough after you ate.

Ok thanks everyone, I kinda drink the water right before, like 10 minutes before I start, and then drink throughout. I'll to start drinking my water earlier to avoid the problems.

Not to scare you but I sometimes get pains in my lower abdominal area when doing hi-impact exercises. It's a result of endometriosis--a female issue. Your gender isn't posted so if you're a guy I doubt that's the problem!

Hey Selanne, I used to always get cramps back when I ran cross-country. It was usually caused by eating improper foods before running. The best thing you could eat is probably a banana( add a spoonful of honey for speed and distance). It has all the carbs you need and especially potassium. Eat it along with about 12oz of water. Wait about 20min before you start your warm up, during which time you should sip on water and maybe a little bit of a sports drink(gatorade...). Another tip: you are less likely to get them if you run in the morning because you don't have a full day of food wobbling around in your gut. And if you plan on running fast then you should not drink within 10min of the start because it will splash around in your stomach and maybe come back up lol.
I sure do miss running :(

I miss running too! I am going to try to brave the cold morning tomorrow (5 AM, YAWN!) and get back into my old routine.
