I *pulled* or *srained* my shoulder in the same area about 3 wks ago...its taken some time for it to heal cause im stubborn and cont to lift normally(i.e heavy)...give it plenty of rest..take a couple of pain relievers(if needed) and use some super really light weight if you feel the need to *work it out*...
However, i shall point out my disclaimer and say that i am not a medical expert and a pain should never be taken lightly and you should consult a medical expert if your pain exists longer than a few days...

Velasca gives good medical advice (I know cuz I'm the medical expert...PT). Unless there is some significant deformity, you probably will be all right. Even better if there is no swelling or bruising. Given your description, you probably strained either your pec maj attachment or ant deltoid.
Give it some rest, ice it down the next several days, and do some gentle stretching. When you feel ready to bench again, start light and continue to ice as it promotes great blood flow to the area.
Should be back to normal if you don't keep reinjuring it as it heals.
