Loss of interest, no energy, soreness, depression, flu like symptoms, and sometimes the symptoms don't show right away.
Hope this helps.

I'd say your do for a break, but the pecs can stay sore for a couple of days after a good session. Listen to your body.

Morpheus, you are most probably right, but if you consider the legnth of time training without a break, it can result in OT.

A sure clue is if you are getting weaker on your lifts with proper diet. That is if you do benches and do a certain weight, and the next time you do them you actually drop in weight or reps(besides the normal bad day), it this continues you are most probably not recovering from your workouts, and overtraining is setting in. If each day is a struggle, no matter what bodypart you are working, you are overtraining. You need to gear your workout to your recovery threshold. This you must find, we all differ.
Irritability, sleeplessness, etc. are signs also of a different nature, but stem from overtraining also.

Try training your pecs only once a week.
They will have longer to recover and you can still work them hard...

Flue-like symptoms can occur as well.

Now I see that Carivan already said that.

Thanks Carivan. Perhaps I misread what he posted. I thought he said he was asking because he had been sore for two days (not because he lifted for two days).
I just wanted to point out that DOMS was a possibility.
