Heya All I recently switched my routine from a 3 day/week total body routine to a 4 day split (thanks to some expert advice :0))...I have to say Man am I ever sore!!! my only concern really is if I am only working one muscle group/per week is that going to be sufficient in toning and fat loss??? And also, I had read on one of the posts suggested to another individual to cut out carbs after 4 p.m. Is this like a good rule of thumb? Just wantin it to be perfect... :-)

Pain is gain! Means its working and keep feeding those muscles. Keep up the good work. With the carbs, if you have a lot of fat to lose it's a good idea. A person very close to me who worked with a personal trainer 1x per week, dropped from 240 to 180. He was told no carbs after 1:pm so his body would use up the fat stores, and not use new ingested carbs. Lets see some other opinions.

I would suggest rather than 0 carbs, eat just some fibrous carbs. For example, with your evening 1st evening meal, have 1-2 cups of vegetables, preferrably green like broccoli or spinach. No corn! With your final meal, have a small green salad with some light dressing and a tbsp. of flax oil for EFA's. It will go a long ways toward keeping your metabolism honest,and also aid in your fat loss. 0 carbs will also result in workouts going down the tubes. Once a week with a 4 day split is fine, work intensely and do your cardio, you will be getting plenty. If you feel the need, you can always up the cardio. Even throw in a session on the weekend depending on how (dedicated) you are. :>}

If I cut the carbs that early, I'm so irritable by the end of the night that no body even wants to phone me! Carbs don't have to be pasta, as bb1 said, broccoli is great. It's filling and good for you.

Guess I was misunderstood by carbs. I meant pasta, rice, bread, potatoes white stuff, etc. By all means eat veggies.
