So I am using the intermediate freetrainers lean muscle mass program and I am wondering, is it enough? I keep hearing that you need to work your major muscle groups at least twice a week. is this true? Should I be upgrading to the advanced program? Thanks so much!

Depends on the person. Some peoples bodies can recover quicker than others. I had always done each body part twice a week, but have learned now at 35, that doing them once a week is more beneficial to me.

Your recovery threshold should dictate your strategy. Try twice per week(this is optimal for many), and see how your recovery goes. If you are getting weaker on a continual basis(not just for one workout, each workout varies for obvious reasons, amount of sleep, etc.) then you are probably not recovering adequately and need to cut back. This does not mean you have to on everything(every body part), you will have to decide what is not recovering and change that. The trick here is to use optimal amounts of training with optimal amounts of rest as you need for each bodypart.
