I find it difficult to take a day off. I get to the point where I should after 3 days of hard lifting, then I can't help but go to the gym. Like today I've had 3 days of hard lifting and a day of cardio and today is one of my 2 off days. But I'm very tempted to go to the gym to do back or cardio. When I should probably give my arms a break cause I did Bi's, Tri's and forearms yesterday. So that would include not doing back. I know that i could be overtraining but I feel lazy and bored if I take a day off. Is this normal.

I used to not give myself days of when I first started getting into lifting. I felt like I was too out of shape to give myself a break. Like you I felt lazy when I went a day w/o working out. After about a year or so, I tore my anterior ligament (the one conecting the hip to the pelvis), got shin splints, damaged my rotator cuff and ultimately broke my back while doing squats. That kinda slowed me down a bit.

Now if I don't give myself a break, I'm unable to stand up straight or walk (literally) because my back starts hurting so bad. Do youself a favor, BE LAZY FOR A DAY OR TWO. It will save you a lot of long term misery!!

I hear ya I am on a week off due to a procedure I had done last week and have to give my femoral artery time to heal. I feel like a lump just sitting around doing nothing. But it's my first week off in 16 weeks or so.

You could apply that energy elsewhere so you are still accomplishing something constructive.

If you're a homeowner it's easy to find stuff. . yardwork, patching a wall, repairing squeaky doors all those little things you never get around to; or scrubbing down bathroom walls or kitchen ceilings .. they sound sucky but you get a feeling of satisfaction when it's done similar to workout.

If you're not you can go biking/hiking, start a project that relates to an interest..

Your profile says you've always been in sports.. volunteer to help out at your local Y or Big Brothers program, now THAT's a rewarding way to spend your time.

Thanks for the input. I do have some laundry I've been neglecting to do.
