need some extra encouragement here and some words of advice...
i've been doing everything that i can - eating as little fat as i can squeeze out of my meals less than 39g/day and doing my exercizes vigilantly. but for the past 3 weeks, i haven't lost a pound. i know that muscle weighs more per inch than fat. but it's still discouraging to not see any loss in 3 weeks. i plan to buy a measuring tape to track my progress, but i don't have the slightest idea of what or where to measure on myself. any help and encouraging words would be appreciated. thanks |

You are doing fine fsimmons! Ignore the scales and tape if you can and judge yourself by what you see in the mirror and how your clothes fit you. I actually gained weight(muscle) when I started working out again after a 2 year (baby)break. But after a time, I realized my belt loop needed tightening by a notch, and my clothes were hanging on me (so I got to go out and shop for more clothes, how terrible! LOL :) Try not to look for immediate results - maybe give yourself a 4-6 month goal, so you won't get discouraged by the daily fluctuations of your weight. You keep at it - you really are on the right track!

Your waist is where your belt would fall on a non-hipphugger pair of jeans. Your hips would be the widest point below that before you hit your thighs.
HIIT is High Intensity Interval Training. I haven't tried it yet, so I'm not the best to explain. I know there was a post here that explained very well what it was. Maybe a serch will find it. -------------- ~Jennifer http://www.gwindalyn.com |

I guess that depends on how your body is shaped. Everyone is different. The widest part of my hips does line up with a portion of my butt.
I think important thing is to measure in the same place everytime so you have accurate comparisons. -------------- ~Jennifer http://www.gwindalyn.com |

5th week in a row and still haven't lost any weight
BUT... lost 2 1/2 inches total off hips, arms, waist, and thighs! i think i may have to re-evaluate my goals to include a target waist and thigh size. just looking at the amt of inches i've lost, was wondering if any knew what is a good or avg number of INCHES to lose per week. |

According to a recent U.S. Government study, as of the year 2000, 50% of all American adults are overweight! This number is up from 20% just 15 years ago. And this rise has come despite the incredible proliferation of low fat and fat free foods, fitness centers and weight-loss programs. Americans are at the highest risk ever for heart disease and diabetes. What’s the reason for this increase? Carbohydrates. The old thinking was that FAT made us fat. So, we all began eating fat free (but high carbohydrate) foods. The result? We got 30% fatter! High carbohydrate foods such as Potatoes, rice, pasta and bread cause your body to store more of what you eat as fat!-------------- Free Branded Business http://www.Maliburep.com |

Interesting, CarbLO, that is what I always thought. When I got my nutrition plan here and it said over 300g of carbs a day I almost choked. I just can't do it. If I get up to 200 I feel guilty. I guess somewhere out there is the perfect balance. Wish it would find me...lol.

lost 2 1/2" total from butt and thighs June 3, 2003 lost 2 1/2" total from forearms, biceps, waist, hips, thighs, and calves. they were all small amounts but every litle bit counts. i stopped the eca b/c it made me so tired when i didn't take it, that i didn't want to start any habits. happy to see that i'm still progressing forward even after my vacation in orlando, fl. they have way too many buffets and krispy kremes down there to pass them all up. but i'm back on the right track now. i also lost another pound, so now i'm at 148. i've come to accept that the actual weight loss is not really as important as how you look and feel. i still have a weight goal but now i'm more concerned with how many of my college clothes i can fit into. (college clothes meaning pre-pregnancy and pre-marriage) it seems like every 2 weeks i get a whole new wardrobe using the stuff i already had that i refused to throw away. thank God i didn't b/c otherwise i would've had to spend a lot of money getting clothes that fit. |

Good work fsimmons and keep it up. Sounds like you are really working hard. Those Krispy kremes are 12 grams of FAT! Not good for leaning out! lol.-------------- You can walk to anywhere you want, it only takes time. Ivan Montreal Canada (aka SpongeBob Square Pants to some!) |

Wow! I just read your "diary" fsimmons - awesome work! Sounds like tape measure is the way to go. I'll have to start tracking that too.
