G'day everyone,

I'm 6'3" and aiming for 90kg (1 kg = 2.2 lbs), weighed in just a few weeks back at 83, and this morning at 86. Along the way I've been at 85.5, 84, etc...
how much of this at any one time can be due to temporary factors such as stomach contents etc? Can it actually account for a few kilos? Because I'm skeptical when I see a higher reading just a few days later, and think it must just be that I ate a big breakfast, etc. :)

Thanks!

It could be the inaccuracy of the scales you're using. To minimize this you could just weigh yourself 3 times in a row and take the average of the readings. I find that my weight generally varies about 5 to 10 lbs (3 - 6 kgs) in a normal day. I think stomach content might have something to do with it, but probably also your level of hydration.

get a bodyfat % monitor and use that and take your body fat every morning when you wake up. i think that would be more accurate than just weight

Yeah, and even the bodyfat monitors out there are +- 2-3%...keep in mind that a pound is about 3,500 calories. On the days I lift hard and heavy, including cardio, I burn about 700 calories at the gym.

Then you're taking in 1500 to 4000 calories etc...so day to day you will notice very little change in reality unless there is some super-hi intensity eating or lack thereof, or workout that approaches dangerous levels.

Water, carbs hold onto more water, musle atrophy, hypertrophy, fat loss, gain, weight will jump all over, it's trends that you watch for. Take your weight once every few days first thing in the morning and just chart it or something. :D
