When I do lying side leg raises for my obliques, I don't really feel any strain in my obliques, but my legs and hip joint area feel like they're gonna snap in two. Is it possible that my form is wrong or is that just the way this movement is? I always follow the descriptions and the photos on this site as strictly as possible, and I just started these ab exercises recently. Perhaps the oblique burn will come in time? I really wanna lose these love handles o' mine; it seems the larger my love handles are, the less love I get! :0)

Hey Bretto. You probably already know this but your diet will lose the love handles, not all the leg lifts in the world. But to answer your question, I never felt anything much in the oblique area either when doing these, even when pausing for contraction. It also kills my legs too, but I have seen major results in the oblique area! Stick with it, eat right and you'll be pleasantly surprised too Bretto.

You may not feel a burn unless you do the exercise with weights. But if you aim to lose the love handles, then diet is the key as Ischjli pointed out.

Good luck!

Hmmm one exercise who's not really an ab exercises, but who really makes my obliques burn is one hand push ups.....
(if it's too hard to do then start doing them with your hands on a bench and feet on the ground).
I tell you it hurts. Just try it.

I never could do a one handed push up.. no matter how I space my feet or where I place my hand I always tip over.. =(

I'll give it a shot w/ the bench though maybe that will help me.. thanks philla..
