Here's the background...
I'm 18, have a comparatively fast metabolism, am about 120 pounds at 5'8", and only have visible fat around my stomach and ass :laugh:
That's what I'm trying to burn off whilst simultaneously building muscle.
As of right now, my plan consists of doing HIIT on a treadmill for ~45 minutes a day, three days a week, and going to the gym for free-weights and various machinery a different three days to build muscle.
I am also not planning to ingest more than ~8 grams of carbs past 7:00 PM (when your metabolism supposedly slows down), and am trying to eat a decent amount of protein.
Is there anything I should know before I do this? Anything I'm doing wrong? My main goal is to lose the stomach fat (and there is a decent amount of it, although it may be that my rib cage is jutting out, and I do have a ridiculous 6-pack under it. Yargh.)
I think my daily calorie intake is around 2,000 right now. How much does my metabolism naturally burn off?

Are you sure you are eating enough to add muscle?? What does a day of eating look like??

I'll bet it's a girl, guys may worry about their gut, but most couldn't care less if they have a fat a$$. But your right Reddy, more info needed. I will say no matter what, this individual can't have too much weight to lose, 5'8" at 120lbs. isn't bad. You could probably stand to cut you calories by about 200 and see if that starts dropping a little at the end of a couple weeks. Healthy weight loss is 1-2 lbs. a week, more than 2 1/2 is unhealthy. Go to the specific diet and nutrition forum and read and eat foods from the "grocery list for healthy eating", also read "diet thread" it's a good read. Filling out your profile will help people relate to you better, so if you get a chance, take a minute and fill it out. Good luck and welcome to FT!!!

Not bad! And yeah, I'm not worried about fat on my ass, just thought it was weird that that was where it was, besides my stomach.....and nowhere else :)
I'll hit up the diet forums, but two quick questions
1) How do I edit my profile? I went to my profile and my basic info is filled out, doesn't seem like there's anything more to do.
2) Is no carbs past 7:00 PM about right?

That's right Ilya. End the day with protein and fats. Cottage cheese is good and also natural peanut butter if it fits in your meal scheme.
