I wondering if it is mandatory to eat every three hours a day for 5-6 meals a day or can you just have 3 big meals a day plus little snacks in between to put on some good weight?

depends on what you concider a meal and a snack..........I eat 3 times a day that I have at least 60 to 70 grams of protein in it, plus the same amount in carbs maybe a lil more, my other 3 "meals" are around 20 -30 g protein and maybe less than 20 carbs, that makes my total protein in take about 280 and carbs about 270-290. Depending on your goals will dictate when you need protein, how much, at what time, same thing for carbs............if you eat only 3 times a day..........i'll use my self as and example......I would have to eat almost a 100 grams of protein, and 100 g of carbs a meal! Thats a lot of food, and any surplus of calories might be stored as body fat. This is why you break it up throught out the day, you don't eat near as much, and you have a constand supply of engery. Hope this helps a lil bit

Yeah it helps a little, Lets say that my snacks do contain about 20 gr. protein and less than 20 grams of carbs, will that work out for a mass cycle. How big are your main three meals. Are they massive?

If you are pursuing mass, you need to eat 5-6 meals each day, each containing, 30 gr. or more of protein, and the other nutrients to match your goals. Trying to gain, a 40/40/30 diet would be good. p/c/f. So, 40% of your daily calories from carbs will have to come along with your protein, as well as fitting in 30% fat. Anything less will limit your gains no matter what anyone tells you. You have to be as tenacious about your diet as you are about your workout. Your workout is just the vehicle, diet is what get you there.

this whole diet thing confuses me, being at college it's hard to eat the same thing every day. My main protein source is hard boiled eggs and protein bars. i eat veggies when i can but it's really hard. I'm just trying to make it work now until the summer when i'll be ab;e to eat right, so i'm trying to plan it so that come May it'll be time to go on another mass cycle. I am willing to diet right it's just that i can't.

I read that it is easier for your body to digest and get the most nutrients from your meals if you eat smaller and more frequent like 5 times, or 3 times with some good high protien shakes to substitute the other 2.
