I'm no expert so please correct any mistakes i have made in this statement. Muscle and fat are two different tissues right? When you start working out fat doesn't "turn" into muscle, its just the energy burned off.

That is correct. Muscle does not turn to fat, nor does fat turn to muscle.

But by working out with weights, you can burn the fat as energy and add muscle with will raise your metabolism.
