Feel free to chime in, everyone!

Many people complain that they lack motivation or have lost their motivation. I think that it is natural to have some slumps where you feel like it isn't worth the effort, but there are some great tools out there that anyone can use that will help make those slumps fewer and farther inbetween.

First off - make a list of goals. If you don't have a destination, are you going to get there? Set an ul;timate, long-term goal and then set a series of 3-month, monthly, weekly and even daily goals that will lead up to the big goal you set.

Now. Write out some affirmations - it sounds cheesy, but it works. Affirmations help reprogram your brain (computer) and make it easier to achieve your goals. Make you affirmations in the present tense - "I am so happy now that I am 13% bodyfat" "I have healthy habits and a fit lifestyle" "I'm grateful and proud of how I look today" , whatever your goal is, make a statement as if you are already there. Write the affirmations down and repeat them to your self constantly.

Whenever you feel motivation flagging - rewrite your goals, rewrite your affirmations.

Pick a role model (my models are Jenny Hendershott, a fitness competitor, and Nancy Andrews, a natural bodybuilder), act as if you are at their level, or as if you are them. When you feel like skipping a workout, think - what would your role model do? I know Jenny would get in there and rock the gym. If I want to look like her, I had better do it.

When I look at some junk food I think - would Nancy eat that? NO WAY! Then I'm not eating it either.

You need to act as if you are already the person you want to be.

Now - do the workouts, eat the right stuff, monitor your resulsts and adjust when needed... reach those goals!

Can't stress goals enough. In addition, studies have been done showing that those that have written down their goals are MUCH more likely to achieve them.

Find a competition. This gives you constant motivation.

Surround yourself with positive people. You are the average of the 5 people closest to you.
