I had this operation on 12-19-06. I went to physical therapy (Aqua) and now I am on my own. I've lost 27lbs in the last 3 months with my own workout, and need to lose another 25lbs and strenghten my back but am I damaging my back on my own?. Like today I found out that doing Machine Standing Calf Raises is an absolute no-no. To much pressure on lower back. How do I strnghten my lower back?Thank you , would appriate any imput....

There are some folks on here that have similar lower back problems. They tend to do leg work like squats holding dumbbells, and similar movements that help to strengthen the lower back but not put all of that pressure on it.

Anything on your shoulders is bad in your case, too much on the spine.
