Is this possible???
Is it possible say, to work 4 sets of 6 reps each, for each muscle (sort of a muscle building program), 3 days a week, then on another 3 days, do cardio, and eat properly, but have a caloric deficit. Is this possible to gain muscle and lose fat?

The million dollar question! It is my understanding you cannot go in two directions at one time. I'm personally shooting for progressive gains with the aid of a fat burner to combat excess fat gains.

By following my nutritional plan, I have gained roughly 10-12 lbs in the past 3 weeks (solid) with the aid of Muscle Milk.

Wow it took me 4 months to gain 14 lbs that is a good gain. Firehawk you need to really pick one or the other. I tried to do both for years and it got me nowhere but stressed out. Since I started to lift as heavy as i can i have lost 6 inches and gained 14lbs of muscle. So pick one and go with it.!!!!!!

I come from a whole different angle on this one. I firmly believe that one can do both at the same time. I know, because that is how I have done things (and i have witnessed many others do the same thing). People get caught up in the mindset that you have to eat tons of food to lift a ton of weight. I am on a calorie deprived diet and I NEVER periodize, or lighten up my workouts. The muscle continues to come, and bodyfat continues to leave. I train in the 4-6 rep range and do no more than 6-9 total sets per body part. I realize that everyone is different, but I feel that this is one of those things that anybody can do.

Thank you very much guys for the posts. Im curious Mutt, how do you eat when you are losing fat and putting muscle on??? Do you have a caloric deficit or what?
Also, do you do cardio?
If i can just lift heavy and eat Healthy food, I would much rather do that than do 3 days of cardio mixed in.
Dahayz, can u list to me what you do every day? I mean, if you alternate cardio/weightlifting?
Thanks

I eat about 2500 cals a day mostly tuna chicken veges etc, lift hard at the gym and no not a lot of cardio...though that will change with the wweather. I can not explain it in Nov I was 300, now I am 314 and my clothes fit better than in Nov, and I have lost 2-3 inches since then so I do not know what is the cause. But I think that for most trying to do both is not going to work but try it out an dsee...

Yes it is possible to lose fat and gain muscle. Now you may not lose pounds since muscle weighs more, but the more muscle you have the more your body works to burn the fat. You get a higher metoblism.
