The other day I replaced part of my normal workout with lunges and squats.. I knew my glutes were a little unbalanced so when I squatted I tried to focus the weight a little bit on the left side.. but today my knee seems to be hurting really bad... only a little when I walk around if at all.. but if I try to jog (like for a warmup) it will hurt like crazy.. not even a long jog.. just a few seconds into it... tried some aspercreme.. anyone know whats wrong.. or what else I could do to help it?

Rest a little and put some ice on it. Then see if it stops. No don't give it any more traumas by trying to run.

Be careful with the joints.

If it continues you'll have to see a doc.

Squats can be a killer on the knees! The next time you do them, make sure you're not wearing any constrictive clothing and lose the knee wraps if you use them. Try not to go too heavy and also don't go all the way down during the exercise. It'll take some getting used to.

For now, use RICE therapy and keep away from doing much leg work.
