After making great progress on the FreeTrainers program, I had an injury that'll force me to lay off the weights for a few weeks. I accidently sliced open my forearm (right to the muscle) on a piece of glass. It took 13 stitches to close it.

When I went to have the stitches removed yesterday, my doctor snipped out 3 of the stitches, but couldn't take out any more. The cut was reopening because the skin on my forearm was so tight! Damn, I should've been flabby.

I have to go back Monday to have the rest removed (stictches have to come out after 10 days) and they'll tape the cut shut with butterfly strips.

I suppose this layoff will be a good thing. I've been working out pretty hard for about 4 months straight and my body probably needed a rest. However, I can't sit still, so at least I can run and do ab work. It'll take more than a gaping arm wound to slow me down now.

One question for the pros here: after my layoff, which program would you suggest I use to ease back into weight training?

Thanks

Hey.. hope the recovery goes well. But then again.. I doubt you would have taken a break in your training otherwise? So this is good.. your body needs the rest even though mentally you are going crazy to get back into the gym right? :)

Well obviously you will have to train at the level that your inury and speed of recovery allows you to. Since the use of your arm is required for many movements.. most muscle groups will be affected by this. Just listen to your body..

What program where you doing? Just follow the same but take off some weight and do some more repetitions.

As Arnold says, listening to your body would be the very best thing to do.

Good recovering to you!
