ok, I want to shed weight off my butt, im afraid if I do butt excercises like lunges, squats, and dead lifts, im going to give it more muscle, but make it bigger at the same time...maybe im wrong..but just flat out what do I do to make it smaller!?!?!

Exactly what you said above, do that. The muscle you will gain takes up less room then fat. Don't know if you are male or female, please fill out your profile and check out the female discussion board as there are many discussions on the same topic. Good Luck

Doing squats will NOT make you behind bigger but just more TONED (and better looking!) It's a question about fat. AND not to forget that the gluteus is the biggest muscle the human body got so it takes a LOT of work and time just to be able to build the muscle.......

soooo.. doing squats will NOT make your butt bigger.. but what about all these people asking about getting a bigger butt... and ya'll say do squats.. i am a little confused now. does how much you lift make a difference of whether you get a bigger butt? Or will your butt not get big, just more toned and shapely no matter what kind of reps and weight you use??

Lalababy, you're right there, but doing squat wont make the rear end BIG like when having a big FAT behind! Working with resistance will give nicely shaped and curved muscles. Take the known (female) bodybuilders, they do really HEAVY squats but since they don't really have a lot of fat, well then their legs and glutes are simply nice and strong.
As I said to build up this HUGE muscle group you'll need to lift heavy. Of course you can get there lifting moderate and lots of repetitions, but it'll just take you longer......

well, will doing heavy squats give a person a nice BIG butt as in nice BIG shapely muscle butt (not big fat butt)? or does doing heavy squats not make it bigger at all?

LOL okey, now listen to this: If your butt get BIGGER when doing squats it's because of the muscles growing UNDERNEATH the FAT!

Any muscle, anywhere on the body will get toned id you exercise it, but if there is fat over, it will cause the fat to push out further. Meph, your BUTT will get bigger even with the exercises if you don't diet to lose the fat. Lunges do work and squats and hydrants. All three will give you an all over butt workout.
