I have been working out for about a week--focusing mostly on my legs. However, last night I began to feel a small pain in my hamstring. It really doesnt hurt that bad, its more uncomfortable. However, Im not sure if this should be treated seriously--I mean is it strained or is it just simple muscle soreness. Can someone shed a little light on this matter for me. Thanks.

Welcome to fretrainers kellygirl. Not knowing you activity level, it is hard to say. But I can tell you this, if it was your hamstring you wouldn't be able to walk on that leg.
You are probably experiencing muscle sorenes which will last anywhere from 24-48 hrs. How come you focus mostly on legs?

Sounds like soreness to me. If it were anything other than that you would know it.

does it hurt only with movement or just all the time?
When is the last time you worked your hamstring? Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness can be anywhere from one to three days after working a muscle. It usually feels like general soreness, maybe stiffness, rubbing it, taking a hot bath, icing it, getting it moving qwith some light cardio will help if it is DOMS.

If it is strained, there would probably be some sweling in the area, it will hurt to bend, unbend at hip/knee. If it doesn't ease up after 3-4 days, you may want to have someone look at. No one can honestly tell what is going on without physically being there.
When you say you have been working out for a week, focusing on your legs, what type of routine are you doing? Your legs need to rest and rcover inbetween workouts.
