i work 3rd shift,

I just started goign to the gym last week. i plan on going from 4-5 times a week. the problem that i am having is that i work from 10 at night to 7 in the morning. i;m not sure of what to eat and when i should exercise. right now it is easier to exercise right after work at 7am but then i go home and go to bed. Does this make it pointless to work out since i am sleeping right after? as far as eating, at work i have about 3 15 min. breaks, i wat befor i go to work and i usually don't eat befor i go to bed, but try to have something small befor i work out. is this right? thanks for anyhelp.

No, it does not make it pointless. You don't state what your goals are, but either way you are at the very least getting healthier.

If you are trying to gain, go ahead and eat after your workout, then sleep. Sleep is a good thing. You do not grow in the gym, you grow 'between' sessions. Proper rest is one part of the overal equation.

I used to work 3rd shift, I sometimes went to the gym right after work in the morning, but most times went home and went to bed, and hit the gym after I got up.

i'm sorry, i am a female so gaining weight is out of the question :) my goal is to loose about 50 lbs,and tone up hopefully within the next year. I know myself and if i try and go home to sleep and then work out later i won't go. i have very little motivation other than from the people i work with, we all workout together. I try not to eat anthing befor i go to sleep other then maybe a banana. I know they say you shouldn't eat after a certain time which for everyone else is fine but not for me because that is around the time i am waking up. i have read other messages about what you should eat so i think im ok with that area, my problem is should i change it any because of the times i am eating. thanks for the help. :-D
