But would it be contradictory to take animal cuts while on a mass program? I understand that it's to burn fat and "cut up" but I was hoping to use it to combat extra fat gain. I know that's unavoidable, but minimalization would be great.

Go ahead and take it. I took Xenadrine during a mass phase and I still gained a good amount of lean mass. I didn't take the recommended dosage though - I cut it in half.
