I want to improve my muscular physique i.e (mass & peak in muscles) but ive been training now for some time and it is taking a while but i do notice improvements, i always vary my training on a daily basis and can't find a routine that benefits me more. Can any one offer me advise on sets and repititions, and how many rests between. How long should i work each muscle for.

Please send me the reply

If you haven't already done so - check out the ft programs. They have enough variety to keep the muscles growing IF you do it with enough intensity.

Welcome to ft, Ross! Good advice from Mike...you should sign up for an ft program. You will then get recommended number of reps. along with a full exercise program designed just for you. You can even choose to target a specific muscle group.

Good luck!

How long have you been weight training? Muscle don't just come with magic, so a little patience is needed.

Yes, follow a FT program, but also look at your diet. Maybe your diet is your problem. Do you eat enough proteins and daily calories for the muscles to grow?

I am no pro and these guys are smart but I would do things diffrent. I went threw the same thing as you did last week. I could not find my groove, I didn't know how many sets or reps to do. What I did was find an exercise at my gym for all the major muscle groups. Then I tryed to max out on all of them. As an example I'll use my bench. I maxed 185 so I went down to 125 and tryed to do 10 reps. I got 11 reps so I went to 135 and got 7. So then I found that 135 was a good place to start. This week I started at 135 and did 7 reps and as many sets as I could and I got 4 sets in. Then I did another set and had my workout partner help me with the last 3 reps. So now I have my workout for bench. I did the same with the others. I try and make it so I need a little bit of help with my last few reps. I think its fine to do things your own way for a while if your just starting cuz newbies can over train and still make gains. This gives us time to hone our workouts and still make good gains. Over time we will find our "groove" and our workouts will become more effective.
