Lower the amount of weight you are using. The last few reps of the last set should be the most difficullt. I personally set my weights to a point that I fail on the last rep or two.

Congratulations on starting out... best of luck. I know it's exciting and you want to push it to the limit right away, but maybe resist that temptation. Weightlifting stresses more than muscle - also ligaments and tendons and joint tissue. These need to adjust to the extra load. I recommend starting with sets you can complete fairly easily. You can gradually increase the effort over the next several workouts. After a few weeks, let 'er rip and go all out. It's worth the wait to prevent an injury...especially at 14 when your body will adapt very quickly.

That depends on your position, and your position depends mostly on your body. If you're a big strong not-so-fast guy who will probably play on the line, then you're after mass and explosive strength. If you're a slim quick guy who may play reciever, you'll want to go for speed and maneuverability. Offensive or defensive back, somewhere in between. Or if your football skills are about like mine, you'll want good shoulders for carrying all that water around! :)

Do the one the program here says & make sure you check out the diet stuff too - you might want your parents to look the diet stuff over too so they can help/buy what you need
