For those who can spare the time, please read the details for a better understanding of my dilemma/problem.
SUMMARY: I need an exercise plan that can be done at home for two/three days a week. I cannot afford to join a Gym, but have some dumbbells, a step bench and access to a mechanical (ancient) treadmill. I currently do Ballroom dancing (Classic & Latin) four days a week for a total of nine hours.
DETAILS: I am a 5’3” Afro-Caribbean Female with a history of Diabetes and High Blood pressure in my family, thus I must take particular care in increasing my health potential. I have a lower back injury from an old accident at work which occasionally flares up, and have recently had surgery so cannot do anything too strenuous. Last year I lost 41 lbs in 3 months through dietary changes alone. I was only dancing for about 2.5 hours a week then, but after surgery (and a bout of depression) regained 8lbs this year. Due to a host of allergies I cannot consume ANY dairy products and do not eat any flesh other than Fish and occasionally Chicken. In addition to these restrictions I do not use sugar or salt. My physician believes I have a further 27lbs to loose although I would be happy to loose a net amount of 20lbs (while gaining some all important muscle). It would appear that even though I have now added to my activity level with more dancing, that I have reached a plateau. Admittedly I have not been as strict with my nutrition as I was last year when informed of my medical problems, and a result have started to experience reduced physical health. I believe that I have the nutritional knowledge to get back on track diet-wise, but am seriously lacking in ideas for increasing my physical strength and tone without putting too much pressure on my recuperating body. Financially, I am unable to commit to joining or purchasing anything as I currently spend a lot of funds on medication and Physicians. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
