Hey guys. I'm new here. I have been working out for about a year now.. and the one thing that really get's be is that I can loose weight, but I can't loose inches.
I'm 5'3 and 120 lbs.. But I have huge sidesadles and lovehandles.
Can anyone tell me how to lose the inches off my waist and hips, rather than just the lbs.
I do cardio 30 minutes (at least) a day. PLus weight training.. and still nothin.
Any help would be apreciated.. Thanks

Well if you are training like you say you are, I would take a look at your eating habits and where you can improve.
Sometimes we improve our nutrition, but not enough to show.
Also the fatty tissue doesn't just shed in one place, it peels off like an onion skin, in layers.
Give it it time.

hello there,
just wanted to say welcome to freetrainers. You're probably not losing inches because you're gaining some muscle...that would be my guess. That's sort of the stage I'm at right now, but what I have looks better and I feel confident that the outter layer of fat will start shrinking as long as I keep up my good diet. There's a nutrition program on this site that is worth checking out if you haven't already.

thanks.. Maybe I just need to look at these things.. I know I am gaining extra muscle and that could also be a factor... I'll deffinatly keep it up, and hopefully this site will be able to help me work off these problem areas.
Thanks a bunch

I would completely change exercise routine if I were you........ If you are always doing the same amount of cardio etc for about a year, then you need to try new things in order to make the body reacts (and reach your goal).
Another thing that can help you loose inches is firming creams. They drain the skin and with the massage it'll actually make you look firmer and leaner.
Good luck!

The key to losing bodyfat & not mearly bodyweight has alot to do with calorie type & timing. Usually what happens when we diet is that we reduce calories and space out our meals which can be very detrimental to our conditioning efforts. There are a some basic rules to help make the most out of fat loss. 1) eat every three hours, this will speed up your metabolism & help to spare lean tissue. 2) avoid simple carbohydrates & saturated fats, the body processes them too quickly and stores them as fat. 3) consume 1 gram of protien per lb of bodyweight per day but remember only take in a max of 30 grams per meal, this ensures adequate nutrients for muscle growth and maintenence. 4) don't cut calories too drastically, this will cause a emergency state in the body & slow down metabolism, only reduce calories by about 500 less than you need for daily activity. 5) always do cardio after weight training, this helps to force the body to burn fat for energy during cardio. The list goes on & gets more complex from there but that should get you on your way. If you would like more info or don't know how to determine your daily caloric needs fell free to e-mail me directly or repost here on the board.
